About

Red Top Farm is located above the small village of Pawlet, Vermont. With a breathtaking view of the Mettawee Valley, it is our piece of heaven on earth .

Many people wonder where the name “Red Top” comes from and it is taken from the type of corn that was grown on the farm decades ago.  The corn itself was known for its red silks and always garnered attention from those looking out across the fields seeing th silks blow in the breeze.

The house itself dates to the 1790’s and is a happy house with many wonderful stories still lurking within its walls.

Today Red Top and the surrounding land is primarily used for haying.  We are working towards taking some of th fields and converting them back to vegetables and such.

For our produce and chickens we work closely with our dear friends at Someday Farm and Three Farms.  Together we all work seeing the young chicks arrive in the early Spring and grow into being either layers or meat producers.  All seedlings begin their life in the greenhouses at Someday and get transplanted to fields there or one of the other farms.

The big question most people have in Florida is  what is a Vermont Farm doing at Farmers Markets in South FL.

The answer is that Red Top hibernates in the winter months and I seek warmer weather and time with my partner whose primary business is in West Palm Beach, FL.

We are very blessed and give thanks each day for what we have been given and are able to share with others.  So to keep the spirit of Red Top alive in the winter, I do what I do in the summer but just in a different location.
